Picture this… Your dog is bouncing off the walls. You want to take them out for a walk to burn some energy but the weather isn’t cooperating and you don’t want to be outside for an extended period of time. You’re getting frustrated but you feel like you just need to deal with it for the day and that tomorrow you can take them. But did you know that you have another option? There are plenty of indoor dog friendly places where you can bring your dog to train, walk around, and get some extra socialization.
Store Etiquette
When taking your dog out in public it's important to be prepared and be respectful of others, especially if you are bringing them into pet friendly stores. By having proper etiquette you help ensure that the dog friendly stores stay dog friendly so you and others can continue to utilize them for training purposes and during bad weather.
We always make sure to have a ‘go bag’ when working in a store to make sure we can clean up any accidents right away. Here is a list of some essentials you should have in your own ‘go bag’:
Clorox Wipes
Paper Towels
Poop Bags
Air Freshener Spray
When walking your dog around the stores, be aware of your surroundings. Don’t let your dog pull you towards strangers or go up to people that they don’t know. If you are working on more duration work, find a spot that is more out of the way to not disturb shoppers. If someone needs to get around you then move to another area to give the shopper the right of way. Being respectful of where you are at and the shoppers around allows for dogs to continue to be welcomed.
